Anti-Semitism and racism - the ideological foundation of right-wing extremism in Germany

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to experts, in recent years the threat of right-wing extremism in the world is growing rapidly. According to the Global Terrorism Index, the number of attacks by right-wing extremists in North America, Western Europe and Oceania from 2014 to 2019. increased by 250%, and the number of deaths increased by over 700%.

Experts believe the coronavirus pandemic could exacerbate this trend in many highly developed Western societies due to uncertain economic prospects. In this regard, the German authorities have agreed on a package of measures to combat racism and right-wing extremism. This document contains 89 sub-clauses aimed at raising the level of public awareness on issues related to racism and xenophobia.

The following main points are highlighted.

First, official Berlin is increasing funding for projects to combat this threat. It is reported that the authorities are planning to allocate more than 1 billion euros for the implementation of various activities from 2021 to 2024. The funds will mainly be directed to strengthening and strengthening: 1) preventive work; 2) protection of victims from discrimination; 3) pluralism of opinions.

Second, the package is designed to encourage the advancement of democracy. The document plans to adopt a "law on the promotion of democracy", which will provide long-term funding for projects aimed at combating anti-Semitism and racism. According to the Federal Government Commissioner for Combating Anti-Semitism F. Klein, anti-Semitism and racism are the ideological foundation of right-wing extremism in the country.

Third, the package includes scientific research into the day-to-day manifestations of racism in civil society, in businesses and in public institutions. In addition, it is planned to establish an advisory center and a hotline for victims of right-wing extremism and racism.

In general, in the context of the rapid growth of the threat of right-wing extremism and racism in the world, German authorities are trying to timely respond to these challenges. Experts emphasize that the allocation of significant funds for the implementation of projects to counter right-wing extremism, as well as the improvement of legislation in this area will yield positive results.
