Agriculture output in Uzbekistan makes up 7.597 trillion soums in 1H
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Total volume of agricultural output in Uzbekistan made up 7.597 trillion soums in January-June 2011 or grew by 6.7% year-on-year, of which output of plant-growing was 4.051 trillion soums (+6.5%) and animal husbandry - 3.546 trillion soums (+7%).

Plant-growing

According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, in January-June 2011 the share of crop production in total agricultural output was 53.3%.

According to the preliminary data, as of 1 July 2011 total sown area of agricultural crops for the yield of the current year in farms of all types was 3.589 million hectares, which is 98,800 hectares less than for the yield of 2010.

The area under grains was 1.603 million hectares (68,700 hectares less than in 2010), cotton – 1.329 million hectares (12,400 hectares less), potatoes – 73,300 hectares (2,900 hectares more), vegetables – 174,300 hectares (3,300 hectares more), forage crops – 308,200 hectares (5,700 hectares less).

Harvesting

As of 1 July 2011, farms of all types produced 5.585 million tonnes of grains, including 5.577 million tonnes of spiked cereal, of which 5.461 million tonnes were wheat.

In the reporting period, the production of potatoes was 874,800 tonnes, vegetables – 1.675 million tonnes, melons and gourds – 107,800 tonnes, fruit and berries – 582,300 tonnes, and grapes – 15,700 tonnes.

Animal husbandry

In January-June 2011, the share of animal production in total agricultural output was 46.7%.

As of 1 July 2011, the population of cattle increased by 542,700 heads (by 6.3%), including cows by 202,900 heads (5.6%), sheep and goats - by 846,400 heads (5.5%), poultry - by 4.665 million heads (13.9%).

In the reporting period, farms of all types produced 727,100 tonnes of meat in living weight (6.8% more than in the corresponding period of the previous year), 3.008 million tonnes of milk (7%), 1.658 billion eggs (16%), 14,500 tonnes of wool (5.5%), 908,100 pieces of karakul (10.2%).

The production of animal products (meat, milk, eggs) in all regions has mainly increased at the expense of dekhkan and private farms. The share of dekhkan farms in total production of meat was 95.1%, milk – 96,1%, eggs – 54.3%.

Private farms

The output produced by private farms in January-June 2011 was 1.989 trillion soums or grew by 2% year-on-year.

In comparison with the corresponding period of 2011, the number of cattle in private farms has increased by 6,600 (by 1.3%), including cows – by 6,000 (by 3.6%), and poultry – by 1.036 million (by 26.9%).
