Age-based pensions to be assigned proactively without citizens’ personal application in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law introducing amendments to the legislation on state pension provision for citizens.

Under the new provisions, age-based pensions will now be assigned automatically, without requiring citizens to personally apply — a so-called proactive approach. At the same time, individuals will retain the right to decline such a pension.

Eligibility for an age-based pension will be determined using data from official information systems. If a citizen disagrees with the pension amount assigned automatically or wishes to continue working and postpone retirement, they may decline the preassigned benefit.

To do so, a formal application must be submitted to the Pension Fund office or completed through the public service centers or the portal my.gov.uz within ten days of receiving the notification. All applications will be reviewed within a maximum of ten days.

The automatic pension assignment will take effect on the day a citizen reaches the statutory retirement age.
