Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Enrico Pinali, director of the Asian Development Bank office in Uzbekistan, gave an interview on investment projects in the energy sector of Uzbekistan, their importance and prospects, the Ministry of Energy reported.

“We support the efforts of Uzbekistan aimed at the efficient use of energy resources, the introduction of renewable energy sources and smart energy-saving technologies.

We develop projects for the production of low-carbon energy equipment in cooperation with the state and energy companies.

One of our projects in the private sector is the first 500 MW Zarafshan wind farm in Navoi region. Also, the Asian Development Bank provided practical assistance in holding a tender for the Sherabad solar photovoltaic power plant in Surkhandarya region.

We support the government’s policy to decentralize the energy sector and ensure the participation of the private sector in the local market.

The Asian Development Bank is currently developing a cooperation strategy for the next four years.

Together with the Government, our partners and the private sector, we will continue our projects to create a competitive market environment in providing the people of Uzbekistan with clean and affordable electricity,” Enrico Pinali said.
