A bill proposing an increase in the permissible speed margin has been submitted to the Legislative Chamber

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A bill has been submitted to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis that proposes increasing the non-punishable speed threshold from 5 to 10 km/h, according to the press service of the lower house of parliament.

The document was introduced by the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan as part of its legislative initiative and aims to amend the Code of Administrative Responsibility.

Under the proposed bill, administrative penalties for speeding violations will take into account potential measurement inaccuracies of speed detection devices. If a speeding violation is recorded, 10 km/h will be deducted from the registered speed before determining whether a fine applies.

Currently, traffic fines are calculated with an allowable error margin of 5 km/h for radar and speedometer readings.

For example, in a 60 km/h speed zone, if a radar detects a vehicle traveling at 69 km/h, the driver is fined based on a speed of 64 km/h (after subtracting 5 km/h).

The proposed changes seek to eliminate such discrepancies, ensure fairer enforcement of fines, and protect the legal rights of citizens.
