The existing five booster stations [comprised of 36 compression plants] were built between 1970-1985 for intensive gas extraction from the storage facilities due to the drop in gas production and reservoir pressure decline. As a result of continuous service, their basic and auxiliary equipment became obsolescent and physically depreciated, so a new facility was urgently needed to replace them. In 2008 Zeromax Gmbh was awarded this prestigious replacement ’turnkey’ project.
The single new booster station, which replaces the previous five stations, is equipped with 5 updated, high-performance 25 MWt-capacity gas compression units produced by JSC Sumy Frunze. Each unit’s DU-80L2 compressor drive is produced by Zorya-Mashproyekt RPA and is not hazardous for ecology, meeting all emission standards.
Project completion including delivery of processing equipment, material and technical resources, engineering, construction, mounting and pre-commissioning was accomplished within a record period of 7 months.
