Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  The Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Protection has initiated legal proceedings against construction company Zamin Great City following a complaint from a citizen who paid over 252.6 million soums for an apartment in Tashkent’s Bektemir district.

According to the contract, the two-room apartment with an area of 39.47 square meters was to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2024. However, construction was halted, and the property was never handed over to the buyer.

The Committee reminded that under Article 19 of the Law "On Consumer Protection," if deadlines are violated, the consumer has the right to terminate the contract, demand a full refund, and claim damages. The developer is also obligated to pay a penalty for the delay.

A special commission was formed to investigate the complaint, resulting in the launch of the case. Measures have been taken to monitor the company's compliance with construction deadlines and to safeguard the consumer’s property rights.

The Committee urged citizens to exercise caution when signing contracts with developers and called on construction firms to strictly fulfill their obligations.
