Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Chinese company Yutong has won the tender for the supply of 200 electric buses, according to the press service of Toshshahartanskhizmat.
As part of the 2025 fleet renewal program, Tashkent plans to implement a project to purchase 200 electric buses along with charging stations.
The tender saw participation from three Chinese companies: BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd., Yutong BUS Co., Ltd., and Zhongtong Bus Holding Co., Ltd.
Following the competitive selection process, Yutong was awarded the contract as its proposal fully met the specified requirements, Toshshahartanskhizmat reported.
The newly acquired electric buses will be deployed both to expand the existing transport network in the capital and to launch new routes.
On 12 February, Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov met with Yutong Bus Vice President for International Marketing Xu Peng to discuss fleet renewal within the broader framework of Uzbekistan’s public transport modernization.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the ongoing implementation of the 200-electric bus procurement project and explored the potential acquisition of an additional 1,000 buses for Tashkent. Minister Makhkamov also emphasized the importance of enhancing service quality, considering the growing number of Yutong buses and electric buses operating in Uzbekistan.
