Yutong to supply 100 electric buses to Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- By the end of 2023, Samarkand’s public transport fleet will be replenished with 100 electric buses 10.5 meters long, manufactured by the Chinese company Yutong. This was reported by the press service of the Department of Transport of Samarkand region.

The Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, the Khokimiyat of Samarkand region and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) are implementing a project to purchase 350 electric buses for public transport in Samarkand and create related infrastructure in the amount of US$95 million.

Yutong Bus has won an international tender for the supply of electric buses. On 30 January, Yutong and the state enterprise Samarkandyulovchitrans signed a contract for 29.7 million euros. A foreign consultant was engaged at the expense of the EBRD grant.

The delivery of 100 electric buses and charging equipment for them is the first stage of the project. In the first half of this year, 6 cars should be delivered, the remaining 94 - before the end of the third quarter.

A master plan and design estimates for the construction of a depot for electric buses on Gagarin Street were developed. The documents have been submitted for examination.
