Youth of Uzbekistan and several countries presented their research in medical science

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Young medical specialists took part in the third Youth Scientific and Practical Conference “Topical Issues of Obstetrics and Gynecology”, held in Tashkent on 5 April.

Along with domestic researchers, young representatives of medical science from Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan took part in the forum.

The organizers of the Youth Conference were the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health (RSNPMCCHMiR).

“The modern world requires young scientists not only to know their subject, but also to think outside the box and be able to present and disseminate their valuable ideas. In this regard, the need and importance of the forum of young scientists is undoubtedly growing,” noted, making a welcoming speech, acting Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Asilbek Khudayarov.

He emphasized that the main task of today's young researchers is the birth of new ideas, their discussion and dissemination.

“Medicine is one of the advanced platforms for scientific developments and their subsequent practical application, and you are given an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your abilities,” the head of the ministry said, addressing the young participants.

As Natalya Nadyrkhanova, director of the Center for Maternal and Child Health, emphasized, today very high demands are placed on healthcare specialists, especially in the field of maternal and child health. Therefore, the training of qualified personnel plays such an important role both at the pre- and post-graduate stages of education. And holding scientific and practical conferences among young specialists is one of the effective formats for improving the skills and scientific potential of young personnel and increasing the competitiveness of domestic healthcare.

Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Uzbekistan Nigina Abaszade noted in her speech that the country provides significant support to young specialists and scientific research in the medical field. Thus, conditions are created for the field of obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive services to be high-quality, dynamic, and for knowledgeable specialists to work here, keeping pace with progress.

“We all know that innovative thought drives progress. We know that research minds move the world forward and therefore young specialists are the future of our medicine,” said the head of the UNFPA office.

Addressing the young participants of the forum, she emphasized: “I want to wish you success, to wish that what you have created, the innovative thought that comes out of your research, will be integrated into practice and will benefit the people of Uzbekistan and, possibly, the region.”

The third conference became an event with international participation. And one of the foreign participants were young specialists from the National Medical Research Center named after V.A. Almazov (St. Petersburg, Russia). In an online format, the participants were greeted by the head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology with the Center’s clinic, Irina Zazerskaya. She emphasized that the ancient Uzbek land has centuries-old traditions of education and scientific thought, and, being on it, one can feel the amazing energy in the need to comprehend new things, in the transfer of the knowledge that has traditionally grown here. And the youth forum itself, noted I. Zazerskaya, is a real celebration of communication, new friendships, exchange of new knowledge and information.

The young doctors themselves said that both youth research and meeting like-minded people are important within the forum.

“Today, evidence-based medicine is very important and every young doctor understands this, so he tries to treat based on the most modern facts. In order for these facts to exist, research is needed, including the kind presented at the conference,” says Karina Makhsudova, a resident at the Center for Maternal and Child Health.

Karina was directly involved in the preparation of the conference, and notes that the selection of reports was quite serious. “Working on the preparation was very interesting and responsible, because we selected theses and reports, and I was amazed at how very labor-intensive it is to painstakingly check every letter, every application and respond. There were many interesting reports and theses, and still it was necessary to choose the best ones.”

Natalya Panikarova, a young specialist at the Russian National Medical Research Center named after V.A. Almazov, came to the Tashkent conference with the expectation of sharing modern new information in the field of obstetrics and gynecology..

“The youth conference is a very important format, I believe that young people always have great potential, now, at this age, there is a lot of energy, a lot of enthusiasm and desire to learn new things. Such qualities can advance science,” says the Russian young specialist.

Natalia also notes that international contacts and the relationships that such an event promotes are of great importance.

A youth forum with international participation is, on the one hand, an opportunity to hear new ideas from foreign peers, and on the other, to find out their opinion about your research, says doctor, resident of the Kazakhstan Scientific Center for Obstetrics, Perinatology and Gynecology from Almaty, geneticist Benazir Amirbaeva. “It is also very interesting to learn from colleagues about the conditions of study and work in Uzbekistan, their opportunities and plans.”

Benazir is confident that it is the format of the youth conference, where you are an equal among equals, that allows even those authors of studies who may be hindered by excessive shyness to open up. Among peers it is easier and more worthy to present your ideas and discuss them.

The Kazakh experience in neonatology was presented in Tashkent by Nargiza Askarova, a doctor, resident of the same Almaty Scientific Center. She noted that in her country almost every medical center tries to hold youth scientific events. Therefore, the experience of Uzbekistan in organizing such a large-scale conference and the opportunity to speak to peers with their scientific ideas are very interesting.

From a scientific point of view, the goal of the youth conference is to introduce young people to the beginning of scientific activity, says Feruza Nishanova, deputy director of the Russian National Research and Medical Center for Scientific Work.

“It is precisely such conferences that contribute to the acquisition of speaking skills as part of the implementation of scientific work. In addition, the conference helps to identify the best participants whose potential will be taken into account. In particular, to continue postgraduate education in the form of a research intern, which can be considered a stage for subsequent admission to doctoral studies,” she noted in an interview.

The youth of the regions of Uzbekistan are very interested in holding such a conference, noted Dilorom Asrankulova, head of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the Andijan Medical Institute. This time four delegates from the region came to Tashkent, but they wanted much more. At the Andijan Medical Institute itself, only on March 19, a traditional scientific youth conference was also organized and the activity of its participants in a hybrid format proves the desire of students, clinical residents, and undergraduates to learn as much as possible and present their ideas in medicine.

One of the main criteria when assessing reports at the conference is the originality of the research conducted by the young scientist himself, noted the chairman of the jury, leading specialist of the Center for Training of Personnel of the Russian National Research and Medical Center for Medical Research Sevara Ergasheva.

“Research that has a scientific and practical component is welcomed. That is, it must be some kind of original idea, which, from the point of view of a young scientist, can have some practical outcome - be useful, solve a certain task, problem. Therefore, we evaluate his application as a young researcher, because these researchers will give us our scientific potential - those scientists who will put forward interesting ideas and developments in obstetrics and gynecology,” says the chairman of the jury.

It should be noted that at the end of the conference, the authors of the 3 best oral reports and 3 poster reports were awarded diplomas and memorable gifts.
