Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 13 August to 1 September, Budapest hosted the Youth Kickboxing World Championship organized by the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO), Dunyo news agency reported.
The tournament brought together young athletes from around the globe to compete in various kickboxing disciplines. This year, the Hungarian capital welcomed 3,100 young participants from 68 countries.
Uzbekistan was represented by 25 boys and girls aged 10 to 18, competing in two disciplines: ring and tatami.
On 30 August, during the opening of the championship’s final stage, participants were greeted by WAKO President Roy Baker, President of the International Sports Federation under the International Olympic Committee Raffaele Chiulli, and the Uzbek ambassador to Hungary.
Uzbek athletes achieved great success at the Youth Kickboxing World Championship. Over the course of 8 days of intense competition, 16 athletes from Uzbekistan won medals. Among them:
Gold Medals:
- Khojiakbar Kakhkhorov (up to 60 kg)
- Salimboy Rasulmukhamedov (45 kg)
- Asadbek Abdurayimov (42 kg)
Silver Medals:
- Jahongir Sagdullaev (42 kg)
- Abduvoris Zokhidov (48 kg)
- Feruzabanu Abdukhalilova (52 kg)
- Abdulbasit Abdugapparov (45 kg)
- Ulugbek Bakhadirov (57 kg)
- Mirodil Ortikov (60 kg)
- Mehroy Jumaboyev (60 kg)
- Aziz Yuldashev (37 kg) — two silver medals in two categories
Bronze Medals:
- Jamshid Makhmudjonov (42 kg)
- Mehrangiz Makhmudova (56 kg)
- Gulsevar Yoldosheva (48 kg)
- Saidafzal Saidburkhanov (32 kg)
For the first time in the history of Uzbekistan’s participation in kickboxing tournaments, the team won such a large number of medals.
It is also worth noting the outstanding performance of Uzbek girls, who won 3 medals — 1 silver and 2 bronze.
As a reminder, the World Kickboxing Championship will be held in Tashkent on 24-29 September 2024. For the first time in the history of kickboxing, the world championship will take place in an Asian country.
