The event was dedicated to the work carried out within the framework of the national project “Yashil Makon” (“Green Space”).

For information: in accordance with the tasks set at a video conference meeting on 11 October 2023, chaired by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the implementation of the roadmap for expanding “green zones,” several systematic works were carried out throughout the country in the autumn season of this year.

In particular, working groups and headquarters have been created in the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, the Republic of Karakalpakstan, in regional khokimiyats and the city of Tashkent, as well as in district and city khokimiyats to carry out high-quality work within the framework of the national project “Yashil Makon”.

Also, in order to ensure stability of prices for seedlings in each district and city, forestry and nursery issues were involved, and therefore seedling fairs were organized in 721 retail outlets. In total, 91 million plants were planted as part of the Yashil Makon project.

It should be noted that as a result of the implementation of mass landscaping activities in the republic, there is an increase in green spaces. In particular, on an area of 580 hectares of mountainous and foothill territory of the Bostanlyk district of the Tashkent region, together with ministries, departments, commercial banks, khokimiyats of the Tashkent region and the city of Tashkent, 320 thousand seedlings of ornamental and fruit trees were planted, and new gardens were laid.

In addition, a project has been developed to create plantations of fast-growing tree species around the existing 196 waste collection points. Today, 182 thousand tree seedlings have already been planted.

It should be noted that in order to create “green belts” around industrial enterprises of environmental impact categories I and II, 1 million 873 thousand seedlings were planted, and 5 million 186 thousand seedlings were planted on forest lands.

In addition, to irrigate plants in areas that do not have water sources and provide irrigation systems, 893 drainage wells were dug in the regions, and irrigation systems were introduced along a length of 1058.7 km, for which 610 special machines were used.

It is worth noting that in the autumn of this year, the Forestry Agency delivered 200 seedlings to each microdistrict, which amounted to a total of 2 million plants, and 836 thousand seedlings to preschool educational institutions. In turn, the Ministry of Ecology delivered 900 thousand plants to healthcare institutions.

On an area of 198,000 hectares of desert areas in the Aral Sea region of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the dry bottom of the Aral Sea and other areas by the Forestry Agency

“green covers” have been created. Including an area of 128,000 hectares in the Muynak region, 40,000 hectares in the Bukhara region and 10 thousand hectares in the Khorezm region.
