Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 October, in Tashkent, at ICT Week, Yandex summed up the results of development in 2023 in Uzbekistan - one of the key markets for taxi ordering services, delivery and food in the Yandex Go and Yandex Eats applications.

A year ago, at ICT Week 2022, representatives of Yandex Go announced that security technologies would become one of the company’s focuses in Uzbekistan. Since then, the service has invested more than $350,000 in this area. Among the initiatives implemented during this time is an automatic system for monitoring speed and driving style when executing orders, which helps prevent accidents. If the algorithms detect exceeding the speed limit and dangerous maneuvers during orders, the driver receives a warning with a recommendation to reduce speed and drive more carefully. Yandex Go also became the first service in Uzbekistan to offer drivers and their passengers free travel insurance with extended coverage of over 100 million soums for each person in the car during the order.

Yandex Go invested US$100,000 in the development of an educational environment for schoolchildren to make STEM education more accessible and support the development of the IT industry in Uzbekistan. One of the educational projects was the launch of a free Programming School for students in grades 8-10 based on the IT park in Tashkent. Over the course of a year, each of her students will solve about 500 problems in the Python programming language.

Also in 2023, Yandex Go in Uzbekistan sponsored Technovation Girls, a regional stage of a technology competition for girls. Following the results of the international finals of this competition in Silicon Valley (USA), the team from Uzbekistan took the prize for the first time.

In March 2023, Yandex Eats, a service for ordering ready-made food from restaurants and delivering groceries, began operating in Uzbekistan. Today Yandex Eats is available in Tashkent and Samarkand, the service is already helping to develop the business of more than 800 local and network partners connected to its platform.

It is worth noting that Tashkent is one of the largest cities in terms of business size. This underlines its significance and contribution to the overall success of Yandex Eats in the Uzbek market. The company aims to further expand its geography within the country in order to provide high-tech and convenient services to users in other cities of the country.

The entry of Yandex Eats and other aggregators into the market has already helped to significantly stimulate the growth of the foodtech industry, which has grown 2.5 times in six months. The contribution of Yandex Eats and similar platforms has had a positive impact on the dynamics of the market, where users now have new options to choose from.
