The festival will be organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports Affairs of Uzbekistan, the Fund Forum, “Uzbekteatr” Creative Association, and Alisher Navoi Theater with support from the embassies of Italy, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Bulgaria and Azerbaijan in Uzbekistan.
“Toshkent bahori” Festival, which has been given the goal of helping determine the role of Uzbek ballet on the global cultural space, was first organized in 2007. Back then, it was seen as a unique forum of eminent masters of classical music, opera and ballet who came together in Tashkent to show the best in their repertoire. And it remains as such today. For ten days, the festival will offer theater fans opportunities to see international and local professionals at play.
The plays to be held during the festival will feature foremost opera singers and conductors from Italy, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Azerbaijan, Moldova and Bulgaria. Along with Uzbek bel canto masters they will embody outstanding creations of ingenious composers such as Giuseppe Verdi, Georges Bizet, Gaetano Donizetti and Giacomo Puccini whose plays are in the festival program.
The event that will bring together in Tashkent opera starts will make for an exchange of values and achievements between the East and the West, and expand friendly and creative links. The event comes opportune as cultural interaction at all levels is a crucial factor in societal development. The festival is certain to add a fresh impetus to the promotion and strengthening of mutual cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
