Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- UNDP, UN family in Uzbekistan, State Committee for Nature Protection and the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan held a festive event commemorating World Environment Day in Gafur Gulyam park in Tashkent.

The World Environment Day is celebrated annually on the 5 June since 1972 at a Stockholm conference, when representatives of world community unanimously declared support for further strengthening international efforts for preserving and maintaining favorable balance for humans in the biosphere. Since then, this day is marked by attracting wide audiences to issues of the protection of the environment, developing and conducting activities in the field of environmental protection.

This slogan of this year’s World Environment Day is “Your Planet Needs You - UNite to Combat Climate Change”, reflecting upon urgent need to unite efforts for more decisive struggle against climate change. In particular, the countries have to achieve new agreements in climate change and its impact on human welfare around the globe.

The slogan “UNite to Combat Climate Change” is addressed to all people of the world, so that they support efforts in protecting the environment and combating climate change, and make a contribution to saving the planet. In particular, in the framework of a campaign devoted to the World Environment Day, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) distributed a list of tips, with little actions that everyone can do:
