Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the third quarter of 2022, the world’s central banks bought 399 tons of gold. About US$20 billion was spent on the purchase of gold, according to the World Gold Council (WGC).
According to the WGC, this is a record purchase of gold over the past 55 years. On an annualized basis, demand for gold purchases jumped 28% to 1,181 tons.
The central banks of Turkey, India, Uzbekistan and Qatar in the third quarter of 2022 became the largest buyers of gold in the world.
Total gold supply increased marginally (+1% YoY) to 1,215 tons. Annual production growth for the sixth consecutive quarter was partially offset by lower refining levels.
