Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution "On measures to implement the project "Use of innovative carbon resources to ensure reforms in the energy sector" with the participation of the World Bank."
According to the resolution, in order to implement the tasks defined in the program for the transition to a “green” economy and ensure “green” growth until 2030, low-carbon development of the national economy, in particular industry, the project “Use of innovative carbon resources for energy reforms” will be implemented in the Republic of Uzbekistan » (iCRAFT). For this, the World Bank will allocate funds in the amount of US$46.25 million.
The project will be implemented on a national scale during 2023-2028.
To this end, the Green Economy Project Center, established as a public institution under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, will be expanded to 7 staff positions with funds allocated as additional technical support from the World Bank, in connection with which an implementation team will be formed project.
An online platform "Green" economy will be created, including a register of greenhouse gases, a database will be developed for collection within the framework of the Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) system.
According to the resolution, by 1 July 2024, a “green” taxonomy system will be introduced, which makes it possible to environmentally classify types of economic activity together with interested ministries and departments.
