Working meeting held with World Bank experts on the Logistics Performance Index

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Aziz Khuzhanov, Deputy Director of the Center for Transport and Logistics Development Studies, held negotiations with World Bank representatives responsible for the Logistics Performance Index (LPI).

During the meeting, the parties discussed key reforms aimed at improving Uzbekistan's logistics performance, as well as the results achieved so far.

Thanks to systematic transformations in the transport and logistics sector over the past few years, Uzbekistan has significantly strengthened its position in the international LPI ranking, rising from 118th place in 2016 to 88th place in 2023.

World Bank Senior Economist Kristina Wiederer and Expert Ernani Argolo presented recommendations for further improving Uzbekistan’s ranking in the LPI and discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in this area.

Kristina Wiederer noted that since 2023, the LPI ranking has been calculated using an updated methodology based on monitoring supply chains. During the meeting, the experts thoroughly examined the key performance indicators (KPIs) under this new approach.

Following the negotiations, the parties agreed on the following areas of cooperation:

Exchange of analytical data — providing LPI experts with research from the Center for Transport and Logistics Studies;

Capacity building — organizing training programs for government agencies in the logistics sector;

Expert consultations — holding meetings with specialists to discuss the legal framework governing Uzbekistan's transport and logistics sector.

These initiatives are aimed at further strengthening the country's position in the global logistics performance ranking and developing international partnerships.
