Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Their success stories break stereotypes and gender biases. Beeline Uzbekistan, in collaboration with famous photographer Gio Karadava, presents a new perspective on women’s power in the tech industry.
10 inspiring women’s stories – from engineers to top managers – captured through the lens of professional portrait photographer Gio Karadava. The Georgian artist’s portfolio includes shootings for glossy magazines and world-famous celebrities like Frédéric Beigbeder, John Malkovich, Robert De Niro, Catherine Deneuve, Gérard Depardieu, and many more.
His deep and emotional portraits reveal not only the external features of the characters but also their inner world.
“Most of each of my shoots is spent communicating. During this communication, people often open up and tell interesting stories or simply share their emotions, joys, and pain. Inquisitive and interested by nature, I cannot miss the opportunity to ask questions to all the interesting and very different people I am lucky to meet almost every day. The opportunity to get to know my characters for real is worth a lot, and their trusting reactions are priceless.”
"I’ve always wanted to travel to Uzbekistan. As a lover of history and art, I’ve always been drawn to this country’s rich cultural heritage and unique atmosphere. I am glad that I was able to visit Uzbekistan while working on our project. I was fascinated at first sight. I was awaited here by a real riot of colors, textures, and patterns, which is essential for a portrait photographer. Unfortunately, this time I didn’t have much time to fully enjoy this amazing country, but I’m sure I’ll be back here more than once,” commented Gio Karadava, sharing his impressions of his first trip to Uzbekistan.

“My profession is traditionally considered male, yet women are increasingly succeeding in this industry. Calmness, composure, and a rational approach to tasks are the keys to their success. It is important not to give in to fears and doubts but to believe in yourself and your strengths. Women who are confident in their abilities can move mountains and achieve impressive results in any field, including technology."

"My responsibilities include adapting and motivating, tracking, and analyzing the work of my team members. I also work with clients to find satisfactory solutions to their questions and complex situations. My work is important for ensuring quality service, increasing productivity, and increasing the efficiency of my team.
More team-building and developmental training sessions, with a focus on women, are needed in technological businesses. This will allow them to share their experiences, replenish their batteries, and be motivated by the achievements of their colleagues. Women in such environments can become motivators for each other’s growth, making such gatherings more valuable."
Alina Akchurina, Ethics and Compliance Officer
"I help the company maintain and develop a high level of ethical business conduct both internally and in interaction with external partners. My work focuses on complex cases, but that doesn’t make them any less interesting.
In any challenging scenario, I see an opportunity to grow. The major goal is to respond to difficulties in a timely and professional manner. I’m very proud when my effort has a large-scale impact on the entire company. These accomplishments include acquiring the ISO 37001:2016 certificate, which confirms that the company has a well-established strategy for preventing corruption.
It is critical to state openly that there is no division into male and female professions. We need to show more examples of successful women."
Yuliya Tyan, Expert in Planning Service Platforms and VAS Systems
"At Beeline Uzbekistan, I work on the development and deployment of platforms supporting SMS and USSD services, as well as 2/3/4/5G/VoLTE.
I see every obstacle as a chance for growth. They help me improve both my professional skills and my personal qualities. If I face difficulties, I do not give up. I examine the reasons, devise a strategy, and establish realistic timelines for achieving them.
I’m delighted that more and more businesses are creating a work environment free of gender preconceptions. In such circumstances, women can lead, implement innovative ideas, and advance initiatives on an equal footing with men. I hope that in the future we will see even more girls in technical teams."
Tamara Nasirova, Head of CEO Corporate Performance Office
"My work is strategic planning, developing company KPIs, and monitoring their implementation. Performance management is a systematic approach to managing the organization’s performance that allows you to maximize the efficiency of business processes and achieve the set goals. Attentiveness, timeliness, and critical thinking are crucial components of my work. Working with numbers does not allow for any possibility of error.
"She’s a woman; what can she do?" Unfortunately, this disdainful attitude towards women in the technology sector is still common. Changing this culture is not easy, but it is possible. Supporting women’s initiatives at the corporate level is an important step toward this goal. What should women who want to succeed in this field do? The essential thing is to keep the flames inside! If you have a goal and a desire to attain it, discover the fire that will destroy all obstacles on your path to achievement."
Ekaterina Tsoy, Head of Direct and Strategic Procurement
"My responsibilities include the material and technical supply as well as the logistics of important items and services for Beeline’s strategic projects. This means that I communicate with telecom industry leaders and reach agreements in order to maximize benefits and make economically sound investments. We supply goods from various places across the world based on the demands of the business.
The work of procurement specialists is crucial for the economic efficiency of business processes, and gender does not matter. At Beeline Uzbekistan, I have never felt discriminated against. Of course, sometimes you can face it in everyday life, for example, on the roads. I see a lot of opportunities for the realization of women’s potential in the company, so I want to wish for even more cool and ambitious projects for and about women.
My main advice to women is to focus on themselves and not underestimate their strength! Your value is yourself, your knowledge, experience, states, energy, dreams, and much more that cannot be taken away."
Shoira Shamansurova, Head of Internal Control and Risk Management Department
"My responsibilities include detailed analysis and risk assessment, control of business processes in compliance with standards, and the optimization and implementation of new ones. I also review internal procedures for complying with legislation and approved policies, plan risk management in projects, monitor resource efficiency, and provide an express analysis of job progress.
My work helps the company to timely respond to difficulties and adjust the business strategy. I organize work on projects in order to complete them within the deadline set by the customer, to leave the internal customer satisfied, to achieve their goals, and to bring profit to the company.
I don’t believe gender matters in my position. The most important thing is to have the necessary abilities, experience, determination, and adaptability."
Kristina Reshetova, Chief Marketing Officer
"Our goal is not just to offer products but also to make them attractive and consumer-friendly. Thus, marketing helps not only to meet the current needs of customers but also to create innovative solutions, making their lives more comfortable and connected with our products in the field of mobile communications.
Determination, perseverance, and bringing what you started to the end are important in any field. I believe that professionalism is not gender-dependent and that success in the workplace is determined by the skills and qualities of a person rather than their gender. I constantly strive to perform my duties as professionally and effectively as possible. In this case, all gender stereotypes in the technology industry are automatically eliminated.
Beeline Uzbekistan has created all the conditions for the development of any employee, regardless of gender, nationality, and other factors."
Shakhlo Usmanova, Senior Manager of ESG and CSR projects
"My job is to build connections between the investor company, government bodies, and public organizations. We carry out projects within the framework of the ESG strategy aimed at supporting vulnerable groups of society, promoting IT education, and tackling environmental issues. My responsibility is to implement and coordinate such programs.
A few years ago, stereotypes about gender roles could have influenced the perception of women in the field of interaction with government agencies. Taking into account women’s better-developed creative ability and flexibility at work, they are undoubtedly no less attractive employees in all areas. It is necessary to recruit more women into all businesses and ensure equal pay.
The technology sector is developing rapidly. For women who want to succeed in this field, it is important to constantly learn, be creative, think outside the box, and keep track of technology development trends."
