Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the Economic Forum of Uzbekistan 2022, an IMF round table on the topic "Regional Economic Prospects" is being held, which considers the fund’s forecast on the economic prospects of our region, necessary reforms, existing risks and vulnerabilities.

The panellists of the session were Minister of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Timur Ishmetov, Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan Galymzhan Pirmatov, President of the National Bank of Georgia Kobu Gvenetadze, Director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department Jihad Azur and Senior Specialist at the Brookings Institution’s Center for Sustainable Development Johannes Lynn.

The Fund has examined various aspects of this topic, given the deteriorating global environment and the global economic slowdown, the instability and rising prices of food and energy resources, the rapid and rapid tightening of financial conditions. 

A separate analytical part of the forecast is devoted to the risks of spreading poverty and inequality in Central Asia and the Caucasus against the backdrop of the negative consequences of geopolitical tensions in the region.
