Winter entrepreneurship school starts in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A winter school of entrepreneurship and forum of discussion clubs Dilemma will be held in Tashkent region’s Yoshlik rehabilitation complex on 10-17 December 2010. It is organized within project of Kelajak Ovozi Youth Initiative center “Programme on support of young businesses”.

These events will allow 90 young people to obtain skills on developing own business. The organizers said that announcement of 2011 as the Year of small business and private entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan serves as stimulus for developing this direction.

The school has been operating since 2008 and directed at attracting youth to small and medium business, providing methodical and financial assistance to beginning businesses. The project, which is organized within “Programme on support of young businesses”, consists of four stages, after which final conference and awarding ceremony of winners will be held.

Over 3,600 applications were received within the Dilemma Winter School. Experts selected 25 young talents. The organizers attracted 15 graduates of Young Entrepreneurs School to assist new participants at seminars. Dilemma Club participants will discuss actual problems of the youth during debates and discussions.

Winter School envisages training of the specialists on special programme. Participants will be divided intwo two teams and they will compete each other during business training. Participants will work individually and in team. At the end of the school, the best projects will be determined and recommended to banks of Uzbekistan for financing.

Representatives of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, British Council in Uzbekistan, National Association of Microcredit Organizations and Credit Unions, Microcreditbank and other partner organizations will train participants.

After final evaluation of business projects, the Expert Council will determine the best ones, which will receive grants and recommendations for crediting. At the same time, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan will help best participants to undergo internship abroad.

It is worth to mention that seasonal stages of Young Entrepreneurs School were held in February, July and August 2010. This year, about 80 girls and boys took opportunity to participate in the project. School participants also received consultations on crediting with experienced specialists of the banks.

Currently, 34% of participants (36 people) already registered their projects. Overall, the winners received loans for 70 million soums. On 19 November, the most active participants of programme received 10 million soums from hands of Gulnara Karimova.
