Wind power plants with a total capacity of 6,000 MW will be built in Karakalpakstan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the III Tashkent International Investment Forum, contracts were signed for wind power projects with a total capacity of 6,000 MW. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

A power purchase agreement was signed with the Saudi company ACWA Power as part of a project to build a wind power plant with a total capacity of 5,000 MW and a total cost of US$6.2 billion in Kungirot region of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

After commissioning, this station will produce 17.5 billion kWh of electricity per year, save 5.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas, and prevent the release of 7.4 million tons of harmful gases into the atmosphere.

An electricity purchase agreement was also signed with Amea Power from the UAE as part of a project to build a wind power plant with a total capacity of 1000 MW and a total cost of US$1.1 billion in the Kungirot region of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

After commissioning, this station will produce 3.5 billion kWh of electricity per year, save 1.06 billion cubic meters of natural gas, and prevent the release of 1.48 million tons of harmful gases into the atmosphere.
