Wildberries and Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade discuss e-commerce development in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 29 April, a meeting was held in Tashkent between entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan and representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation at the Wildberries Entrepreneur Development Center.

The event was attended by a delegation from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade headed by State Secretary and Deputy Minister Roman Chekushov, as well as representatives of Wildberries, including Evgeny Etin, Director of Government Relations; Rafael Abramyan, Director of International Business Development; and Akmal Primkulov, Head of Wildberries Uzbekistan.

The main purpose of the visit was to discuss support for entrepreneurship and the development of e-commerce in Uzbekistan. As part of the event, an exhibition was held featuring products by local manufacturers presented on the Wildberries marketplace. The display included clothing, accessories, and food products—currently the most popular categories for export from Uzbekistan.

Roman Chekushov highlighted the potential for industrial development and the integration of innovative technologies into trade. He emphasized that Wildberries possesses extensive infrastructure and strong potential in Uzbekistan and expressed hope for an increase in the number of sellers from both countries on the marketplace. The primary goal, he noted, is to establish an efficient bilateral market integration that ensures the accessibility of goods from Uzbekistan in Russia and vice versa.

Rafael Abramyan stated that the company has been operating in Uzbekistan for several years and plans to actively expand its presence. Wildberries’ core mission, he said, is to support small and medium-sized businesses, develop logistics infrastructure, and create conditions for entrepreneurs to succeed. He stressed that the company’s investments are directed not only toward infrastructure but also toward the development of human capital.

The Wildberries Entrepreneur Development Center, established in Tashkent in 2024, has already trained more than 600 entrepreneurs interested in launching and growing businesses on the marketplace. Plans are in place to increase that number to 3,000, including the rollout of training programs in regions across Uzbekistan.
