Which regions perform better in the labor market index?

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Experts from the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research (IPMI) have calculated the Regional Labor Market Index (RLI) for 2022.

The labor market index helps to assess and track the situation in this market and includes 5 indicators that directly reflect the current state of the labor market.

To calculate the RLI, such indicators as the unemployment rate, the number of available vacancies and resumes, the concentration coefficient and the average monthly salary were used.

According to the results of the index, the regions are divided into four groups: with high, medium, low and critically low rates.

At the end of 2022, the group with the highest index value included the city of Tashkent, Tashkent and Navoi regions, where the unemployment rate is lower than the average (8.9%) in the country. Also, the number of vacancies offered is greater than the number of resumes, and the average monthly salary is relatively high.

Bukhara, Andijan, Ferghana, Syrdarya, Khorezm and Namangan regions were included in the middle group. There is a relatively moderate supply of labor, i.e. there are an average of 5.6 resumes per vacancy. The unemployment rate does not exceed 9.1%.

Jizzakh, Samarkand, Surkhandarya regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan were among the regions with low index values. In these regions, there is a large number of job seekers, i.e. there are 17.4 resumes per vacancy. This is the highest concentration coefficient in the country. The unemployment rate is not lower than 9.3%.

The value of the labor market index in Kashkadarya region turned out to be at a critically low level, i.e. 2.2 here, there are 16.8 applicants per vacancy, and the average monthly salary in the region is much lower than the national average (about one million soums).

The introduction of the mahalla institute in 2022 and the organization of the effective work of assistant khokims made it possible to officially register a large number of unemployed in the regions with the placement of their resumes on the website of the National Job Database (ish.mehnat.uz). This, in turn, transferred the unemployed population to the status of actively looking for work, which led to a decrease in the RTI in all regions except Tashkent compared to 2021.
