What will the Agency for Development and Regulation of the Energy Market do?

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Regulations on the Agency for Development and Regulation of the Energy Market of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The regulations envisages:

status of the Agency, its main tasks and functions;

the rights of the Agency and its responsibilities;

the main functional tasks of the Agency’s managers and their responsibilities;

procedure for organizing the Agency’s activities;

criteria and performance indicators for assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of the Agency’s activities;

financing and logistics of the Agency, remuneration of its employees and their financial incentives.
 
The Agency is an independent republican executive body implementing state policy in the field of development and regulation of the energy market. It reports directly to the Cabinet of Ministers and submits a report on its activities to it.

The main tasks of the Agency:

ensuring the gradual organization of competitive wholesale and retail electricity markets;

encouraging competition in the market, ensuring the attractiveness of the market and the balance of supply and demand;

establishing state control over compliance with laws that ensure transparency and equal rights for all market participants;

licensing the activities of market participants, monitoring their compliance with licensing conditions;

confirmation of the appropriate tariffs and fees for the transmission and distribution of electricity, starting from 2026, as well as permissible standards for technological losses arising in the main and distribution electric networks, etc.
