What have we achieved in 9 months of this year in agriculture?

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Experts from the Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Research (IMRI) analyzed the dynamics of agricultural development for 9 months (January-September) 2023.

In January-September 2023, the volume of agricultural products increased by 4.1%. The main sectors of agriculture have achieved positive growth rates. Thus, the volume of crop production increased by 4.9%, and livestock production by 3.3%.

The highest growth rates of gross agricultural output were noted in Syrdarya region - 106.9%. Among the leaders in terms of growth rates are also Surkhandarya (106.6%), Khorezm (106.4%), Jizzakh (105.2%) and Namangan (105.1%) regions.

The volume of investments allocated for the development of agriculture increased to 13.5 trillion soums, which amounted to 6.0% of the total volume of investments in the economy.

The ongoing policy in agriculture is aimed at implementing the objectives of increasing the volume of food production through the effective use of available resources, meeting the needs of the population, as well as economic and financial support for agricultural producers.

For 9 months of 2023, all categories of farms produced 6,972.1 thousand tons of grain, which is 3.3% more than in the same period in 2022, 2,678.7 thousand tons of potatoes (+1.1%), 8,136 ,2 thousand tons of vegetables (+1.5%), 1,606.6 thousand tons of melons (+3.4%), 2,280.2 thousand tons of fruits and berries (+3.1%).

The systematic implementation of measures for the development of agriculture and targeted government support contribute to saturating the domestic market with livestock products.

During this period, 2,042.9 thousand tons of meat in live weight were produced (+3.5% compared to the same period in 2022), 8,579.2 thousand tons of milk (+3.5%), 6,055, 9 million eggs (+2.0%), 91.2 thousand tons of fish were caught (+10.5%).
