Well with hydrogen sulfide leak in Baysun plugged

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  On 15 September, at 16:50, the process of plugging well No. 604 at the "Mustakillik-25" field in the Baysun district of the Surkhandarya region, where a hydrogen sulfide leak occurred in early September, was completed.

ERIELL reported that the plugging of well No. 604 at the "Mustakillik-25" field was successfully completed.

According to the company, the process involved the installation of additional blowout prevention equipment, as well as the preparation and sealing of the wellhead.

The well has been sealed and plugged.

The incident response was monitored by a specially created task force. Experts from Uzbekistan, as well as from Russia and the United States, arrived at the site for a professional assessment.

ERIELL stated that there was no threat to the local population during the process. All activities were conducted in cooperation with the Uzbek Militarized Unit for Blowout and Gas Safety, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the State Inspection "Sanotkontheknazorat."

The work was carried out with full technical support and the necessary equipment. Since the incident, all necessary measures have been taken. Specifically, monitoring posts were established in surrounding settlements to measure and monitor air quality, and analysis showed no exceedance of permissible concentration levels of harmful substances in the atmosphere.

Additionally, cleanup of the drilling site has been completed, and the site has been prepared for the installation and use of specialized equipment and machinery.
