Week of cultural heritage opens in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Tashkent, on 3-7 July 2023, at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Promotion of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with a number of ministries and departments, a week of cultural heritage “The cultural heritage of Uzbekistan is the basis of a new Renaissance” and the International Week of Partnership Initiatives “New Uzbekistan: Development, Innovation and Education” will be held. It is expected that more than a thousand participants and guests from about 60 countries of the world will take part in these events.

During the week, the museums of our capital will host exhibitions of the cultural heritage of the Temurids, masterpieces of folk applied art, and avant-garde paintings stored in Uzbekistan. At the same time, conferences will be held on the topics "New Uzbekistan - on the path to sustainable development", "Convenient business environment", "Healthy and educated society", "Quality education and innovation - the basis of a stable future", "Bridge connecting regions", "A land where human dignity is honored", round tables, meetings and presentations.

The opening ceremony of the Cultural Heritage Week took place in the event hall of the capital. The event was attended by relevant ministries and departments, representatives of international and foreign organizations, culture and art, journalists and bloggers.

At the opening ceremony, a video was shown about the renewal processes in the cultural and educational sphere of our country. Speakers at the ceremony noted the attention paid in recent years in our country to the development of creativity, culture and art.

“Today, on a global scale, countries compete with each other not with their economic capabilities, but with their values and culture,” said Sadyk Safoev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. - Uzbekistan in its foreign policy also primarily relies on its cultural potential. Thanks to this, our country today creates its image at the international level. Cultural events that start today are also aimed at popularizing the culture and values of Uzbekistan.”

“The most important thing for humanity is dialogue,” said Akmal Saidov, First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. “A lot of work is being done by state and non-state organizations in order to ensure dialogue at the international level. In particular, we can talk for a long time about the great work carried out by the World Society for the study, preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan. I hope that this cultural center that opened today and the cultural events that have begun today will ensure a cultural dialogue between different countries and peoples.”

“This conference brings together creative people, representatives of culture and art,” said Minister of Culture and Tourism Ozodbek Nazarbekov. “Cooperation and international relations are developing, and representatives of the cultural sphere of our country also occupy their due place in this. The week opening today will serve to further strengthen this cooperation, spread the glory of Uzbek culture and art.”

“We are grateful for the attention paid to the development of national cinematography in New Uzbekistan,” said Firdavs Abdukhalikov, director of the Cinematography Agency. "Construction and commissioning of a new event hall in accordance with international standards, designed to present new creative projects, is a clear proof of such high attention."

“They say that everything is decided by time,” said People’s Artist of Uzbekistan Khairulla Sadiev. “Once upon a time, one could only dream of such large palaces of art. Today these dreams are coming true. Large-scale changes are taking place in our country, along with all areas, including in the cultural and educational direction. In recent years, a number of international cultural events have been held in Uzbekistan. In particular, among them are the International Maqom and Bakhshi Art Forums, the Tashkent International Film Festival.”

“Three years ago, at a prestigious meeting held here in the Uzbekfilm building, the issue of restoring the former glory of Uzbek cinematography was raised,” said Matyokub Matchanov, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan, chairman of the Association of Cinematographers of Uzbekistan. “In a short time, Uzbek cinematography has revived, dozens of our new films have seen the world. Many films created by Uzbek filmmakers receive international recognition at prestigious film conferences and festivals. All this is the result of great attention paid to Uzbek cinema. In the future, we will try to restore the trust of our people as much as possible with our new films, achievements and successes at the international level.”

The solemn ceremony was accompanied by a festive sayil, demonstration performances, musical numbers and entertainment shows.
