Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 10 October 2024, a delegation from the Competition Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by its Chairman Khalillillo Turakhujaev, visited the city of Bonn, Federal Republic of Germany.
During the visit, the delegation held a meeting with Nicole Brand, Deputy Director General of the German Sparkassenstiftung Foundation for International Cooperation, as well as representatives from the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority.
The talks focused on opportunities to expand joint projects in the areas of consumer rights protection and enhancing competition policies in financial markets. Special attention was given to improving conditions in financial markets for end consumers and increasing the transparency of regulatory mechanisms in this field.
In the afternoon, the delegation met with Andreas Mundt, President of the German Federal Cartel Office. Andreas Mundt briefed the delegation on the office's work, sharing experience in detecting cartels and monitoring cross-border agreements on economic concentration. The discussions also covered prospects for deepening cooperation between the competition authorities of both countries within the framework of the International Competition Network.
Particular emphasis was placed on improving mechanisms for monitoring violations in the field of competition, as well as professional development programs for the staff of the Uzbek Committee.
The delegation also studied Germany's experience in preventing anti-competitive practices in international markets.
Additionally, Andreas Mundt gave the delegation a tour of the historic building of the Federal Cartel Office. Built in 1898, the building is renowned for its architectural significance and is an important part of Bonn's cultural heritage, the former capital of Germany.
