Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The visa-free regime for Uzbek citizens traveling to Thailand has not yet come into effect, according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan announced that the Uzbek Consulate General in Bangkok has contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

"There has been no official information received regarding the simplification of the visa regime," emphasized the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

The foreign ministry of Uzbekistan added that, according to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Thai government has decided to simplify the visa procedure. The consular department will issue corresponding instructions to Thailand’s diplomatic missions abroad, and official information will be published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The procedure for simplifying the visa regime, which is introduced unilaterally, may also be canceled after a certain period. We will provide additional information as soon as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan receives an official note from Thailand," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan noted.

It was previously reported that a visa-free regime for tourists from 36 countries, including Uzbekistan, would be introduced starting from 1 June.
