Shareholders will gather to an extraordinary general meeting on 30 March to consider the change of the name, the company said.

Name’s changing shows the company’s commitment to accelerate strategy of VEON internet platform’s launch by the end of 2017. In addition, it is noted that VimpelCom also plans to hold a secondary listing on Euronext in Amsterdam in the II quarter.

Brands of operating companies in countries of VimpelCom’s presence will not change, while VEON plans to use the high brand awareness and its potential in promoting their strategies. VEON will rely both on Beeline, WindTre, Djezzy, Jazz, Kyivstar and Banglalink and their status as market leaders.

Unitel will continue working in Uzbekistan under Beeline brand.
