VI Asian Student Forum to be held in ancient Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 6 to 8 September on the basis of Samarkand State University named after Sharof Rashidov will host the VI Asian Student Forum, organized on the initiative of the Association of Asian Universities. More than 200 representatives of creative active youth from 30 universities of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and China will come to it.

The Asian Student Forum, since 2012, has been held in iconic places associated with the ancient history and culture of the peoples of Central Asia. So, the first forum was held in the Altai Mountains on the basis of the Altai State University, and the previous one in 2021 on the shores of Issyk-Kul Lake with the support of the Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn. For 10 years, more than one and a half thousand active students from Russia and Asian countries have become participants in the forum.

The objectives of the Asian Student Forum, according to the organizers, are: promoting the development of youth contacts in the cross-border space of Russia and Asia; fostering a caring attitude towards traditional national cultures, their history and current state, as well as attracting young people to the implementation of international cultural, humanitarian, educational and educational projects.

- Ancient Samarkand and Samarkand State University were not accidentally chosen as the venue for the international forum for the most active and talented students. SamSU is the head university of the Association of Asian Universities in the period until 2024, and the President of the Association, the rector of Samarkand University Rustam Khalmuradov takes an active part in the preparation of this event, - said Vice-President of the Association, President of Altai State University Sergey Zemlyukov.

One of the central topics of the forum will be the topic of studying and preserving the common cultural and historical heritage of the peoples of Central Asia. Presentations of scientific and social student projects, as well as a traditional festival of national cultures, where each delegation will present their creative achievements, will be held at SamSU venues.

The program of the forum includes an expert session "Education without Borders", where leading scientists of the REC "Greater Altai" of Altai State University, Samarkand State University and other universities members of the Association will speak to students. As part of the Scientific Breakthrough track, participants will present their ideas for organizing international youth research teams.

– Our university, as the main organizer, will send a large group of students to the forum. We are preparing to receive our friends from Asian universities and plan to present our projects on all tracks. For example, I will present the project “Alternative Energy Sources,” said Amirjon Salakhiddinov, a student of Samarkand State University.

A separate track of the forum "Together we can do anything" will be devoted to social projects and public initiatives of students. Participants will be able to prepare information about their projects for the media and social networks within the track “Media Change the World: Student Media, Personal and Social Media Projects”. The expert of the international project in the field of media SputnikPro, editor-in-chief of Sputnik Uzbekistan Ernis Alymbaev will share his professional knowledge with the participants of the meeting.

– Our university is a permanent participant of all Asian student forums. This time we will present our initiative on the “Media Change the World” track - we propose to organize a joint project with participants from different countries that will combine cross-cultural materials and scientific research, - says Yegor Kostikin, a student at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.

The forum will also host a coordinating meeting of rectors of 26 universities - members of the Association of Asian Universities. In total, the association includes 96 universities of Central Asia.

“We hope that the forum in Samarkand will allow bright representatives of creative youth to find new friends and like-minded people, that in an atmosphere of friendship and trust, new ideas will flare up and bright projects will be born,” said the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of Samarkand State University.
