Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The capital of Uzbekistan is hosting the First Tashkent International Investment Forum, the opening ceremony of which was attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. TIIF is more than 1,500 people from more than 50 countries of the world, a rich business program, discussion of various topics at panel sessions, thematic discussions and round tables. Among the forum participants are heads of financial institutions, organizations and corporations. The delegation of the international telecommunications holding VEON shared its vision of the future of Uzbekistan in the framework of the session "Transformation of trade flows in Central Asia and their capitalization".

In his speech, the Chief Executive Officer of the VEON group of companies, Kaan Terzioglu, emphasized the importance of digitalization in the development of states. According to him, in recent years, the government of Uzbekistan has been conducting a constructive dialogue with business, which is reflected in the high pace of digitalization of the country. By introducing modern digital products, the VEON group represented by Beeline Uzbekistan helps to bring the economy of the republic to a new level. As Kaan Terzioglu noted, Uzbekistan has the potential to introduce information technologies and train personnel for this industry.

“One of the obstacles to using the Internet now is not the lack of coverage, but the lack of local services and content in key areas such as mobile education and healthcare, digital government services. By investing in the creation of digital products in the countries of its presence, VEON becomes a reliable partner for governments in their work to create conditions for sustainable economic growth,” said Kaan Terzioglu.

VEON invests not only in infrastructure development of national telecom operators. The funds are directed to the implementation of social projects, including in the field of education, the creation of a local "digital elite" from IT specialists - natives of Central Asian countries. In Uzbekistan, the willingness of the government to meet business needs and improve the investment climate creates new incentives for VEON to work in line with the Digital Uzbekistan project.
