Vadim Abramov says Uzbekistan was not ready psychologically
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan U-23 head coach Vadim Abramov stated that his team was not ready psychologically to the play-offs of Olympic Games qualifiers, which were held in Hanoi, Vietnam, Uzbekistan Football Federation said.

Uzbekistan needed to defeat the UAE to clinch direct berth in Olympic Games, but leading with the score 2-0, Uzbekistan conceded three goals. In the result, Uzbekistan had to travel to Hanoi to play in play-offs. Uzbekistan defeated Syria (2-1) and lost to Oman (0-2) to bow out from tournament.

Vadim Abramov said that if Uzbekistan defeated the UAE, the team was in other position. He said team planned to defeat the UAE and did not consider variant of participation in play offs. He said that Uzbekistan U-23 was not ready psychologically.

Answering to question on his position in Uzbekistan national team, Abramov said he is ready to leave his post of head coach from Uzbekistan national team if another coach can guarantee qualification of the team to the World Cup.
