Vaccination against COVID-19 is progressing at a "staggering" pace in China - media

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- China is currently vaccinating its citizens "at a staggering pace", making an average of about 19 million vaccinations per day. This was reported by the Associated Press / AP / with reference to the scientific online publication "Our World in Data" / OWID /, Xinhua News Agency reports.

“This compares to one dose for every person in Italy about every three days. In the United States, which has a population of about a quarter of China's population, in April, when vaccinations were in full swing, about 3.4 million vaccinations were given per day,” the article says.

The total number of vaccinations in China is roughly a third of the 1.9 billion vaccinations distributed globally, AP reports.

This speed has been achieved through calls for vaccinations from “all corners”, including companies, schools and local governments.

In addition, China has vaccinated more than 500,000 of its overseas citizens under the Spring Sprout program, which is designed to help Chinese citizens overseas get vaccinated with Chinese drugs.
