Uzvodenergo to commission two small hydro power stations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzvodenergo (Uzbek Water Enery) plans to commission Ahangaran and Andijan small hydro power stations in December 2009, gazeta.uz reported on 25 September 2009.

The report said assembly of equipment is in final stage at Ahangaran small hydro power station and balancing and commissioning is planed to start at the end of November and early December. Assembly of equipment at the Andijan small hydro power station will be completed at the end of November.

China National Electric Equipment Corp (CNEEC) supplied equipment on turnkey bases, while divisions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management carried out construction-assembly works.

CNEEC and the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan signed an agreement on construction of Ahangaran and Andijan small hydro power stations with the cost of US$16.9 million.

The contract envisages supply and equipment and assembly of two power-generating units at Ahangaran and Andijan small hydro power stations with the capacity of 50 and 21 megawatts respectively, as well as training of personal.

The projects are financed due to loan of China Eximabank for US$15.93 million, issued under warranty of the Uzbek government, and own resources of Uzvodenergo and the State Budget.

The designed capacity of Andijan small hydro power station is 171.1 million kilowatt-hour of electricity and Ahangaran small hydro power station - 66.5 million kilowatt-hour of electricity.

Uzbekistan plans to launch 15 hydro power stations with total capacity of 423 megawatts and develop 1.36 billion kilowatt-hour of electricity a year.
