Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Competition Development and Consumer Protection Committee of Uzbekistan has officially recognized Uzum Market as a digital platform operator holding a dominant position in the marketplace sector.

The decision was made based on a committee order in accordance with the Regulation on the Procedure for Recognizing Digital Platform Operators with a Dominant Position and Superior Bargaining Power. This document sets out the criteria under which a digital platform can be classified as dominant.

According to Article 8 of this regulation, a platform is granted the status of a dominant operator if it exhibits direct and indirect network effects and meets at least one of the following conditions:

Total revenue for the last calendar year exceeds 100,000 sizes of basic estimated value (37.5 billion soums).

The average number of active end users is at least 50,000 per month, or the number of active business users reaches at least 3,000 per month.

Uzum Market was the first service launched within the Uzum ecosystem in October 2022. In July 2023, the platform surpassed the milestone of 1 million orders per month and announced the start of construction on the country's largest logistics complex.
