Uztransgas submits report to MPs
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Committee of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis on industry, construction and trade held a session to discuss report of the director-general Uztransgaz joint stock company on execution of legislation directed at ensuring consumer rights in the industry on 23 December 2011.

MPs of the Legislative Chamber, representatives of Cabinet of Ministers, ministries and departments, regional enterprises and organization of Uztransgaz JSC and mass media participated at the event.

It was noted that the presidential resolution from 8 August 2006 “On measures on improving organizational activity of Uztransgaz joint stock company” was directed at further developing the industry. Main task of Uztransgaz is supplying natural and liquefied gas to consumers and conducting single policy in gas distribution networks and gas pipelines, etc.

Among important tasks of Uztransgaz is modernization and re-equipment of equipment and transport of natural gas, ensure rational use of natural gas at gas distribution network and gas pipelines, introduction of modern gas metering equipment, etc.

In the reporting period, the company supplied to all consumers of Uzbekistan over 14,639 billion cubic meters of gas, of which 10.533 billion cubic meters were delivered to population. Besides, the company conducted inventory of existing debt for gas consumption in line with the order of the government.

Uztransgaz also conducts work on supply of liquefied gas to population without gas supply. The company attracts foreign investments to improve gas transport system, its security and modernization. In particular, the inner part of gas pipeline with extension of 3,674 km was cleaned against planned 1,200 km. The gas pipeline with extension of 73-74 km, which passed through neighboring state, was moved to the territory of Uzbekistan.

Adopted measures helped to ensure stable and secure work of gas distribution network. The complaints of consumers on low pressure and other existing problems were analyzed and adopted measures to solve them.

The company repaired outdated part of natural gas supply system. Some 270 km of pipelines were laid to supply gas to 7,300 houses in 348 settlements and some 12.1 billion soums were spent to this purose.

The participants also discussed some shortages in work of Uzbektransgaz. In particular, it was pointed that there are problems with gas supply to some places.
