Uzsuvtaminot: Agreements reached on promising projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairman of the Board of Uzsuvtaminot JSC S. Saifnazarov is in Germany as part of the delegation of Uzbekistan. During the visit, agreements were signed on the implementation of a number of projects aimed at further expanding international cooperation.

In particular, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with KfW Bank to raise 200 million euros to improve the services provided in the drinking water supply and sanitation system in Surkhandarya and Fergana regions, including 130 million euros in loans and 70 million euros in grant funds. The "Road Map" and the Grant Agreement were signed.

 Of these funds, 126 million euros will be directed to the development of drinking water supply and sanitation systems in the cities of Margilan and Kokand, 34 million euros - to improve the sewerage system in the city of Termez.

Also, 30 million euros will be directed to the construction of a centralized sewerage system in the regional centers of the Surkhandarya region, and 10 million euros - to support projects of the KfW bank in Uzbekistan.

During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was also signed with Aqua Consult Ingenieur GmbH, which provides for the joint implementation of the project "Construction of sewer systems in 6 regional centers and villages of Samarkand region."

A Memorandum of Understanding aimed at developing mutual cooperation was signed with the German Water Partnership, which will serve to improve management efficiency based on the introduced new water and energy saving innovative technologies. It is expected that this document will also help achieve a reduction in water losses and electricity consumption by at least 3-4 times.

In addition, agreements have been reached with the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (UBA), according to which specialists in the field will annually undergo medium-term advanced training courses and practice in Germany.
