In 2011, the Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On measures on implementation of the project “Improving energy-efficiency of industrial enterprises” with participation of International Development Association (IDA)” in cooperation with the World Bank. The implementation of the project kicked off afterwards.
Within the project, a soft loan for US$25 million was attracted. The part of the funds for US$8 million was allocated Uzpromstroybank to finance projects on improving energy-efficiency of the enterprises.
Currently, Uzpromstroybank selected 11 projects for over US$10.6 million, of which US$8.3 million were opened for financing and US$6.6 million – financed due to resources of the IDA. In particular, the bank financed projects of Ferghana PTES, Syrdarya PTES, NGMK, Navoiazot, Andijan biokimyo plant, Qoqand Spirt, Bektemit Spirt Experimental Plant.
Implementation of all projects, financed by Uzpromstroybank, will allow Uzbekistan to save 46,500 megawatt of electricity a year and 100 million cubic meters of natural gas.
