Uzkimyosanoat to announce tender for construction of second line of Dehkanabad potash fertilizer plant
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzkimyosanoat (Uzbek chemical industry) state joint stock company will announce a tender on construction of the second line of the Dehkanabad potash fertilizer plant under turn-key within next two months.

The preliminary project cost is US$250 million. Riskivoq Yakubov, first deputy chairman of Uzkimyosanoat, said the tender will comprise of several lots.

He said the Government of Uzbekistan adopted decision to expand capacity of the second line from 200,000 tonnes to 400,000 tonnes. It is expected that the plant will export 180,000 tonnes and supply 220,000 tonnes into internal market.

The project will be financed due to own resources of Uzkimyosanoat, loans of the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan and foreign banks.

It is expected that the construction of the plant’s second line will be launched in 2011, once after the first line will reach its project capacity. The plant will be commissioned by 2014.

Uzbekistan started to construct Dehkanabad potash fertilizer plant in 2007. The plan will be commissioned in summer 2010. The capacity of the plant is 200,000 tonnes a year.

The plant is constructed at Tyubegata field of potash salts with industrial reserves of 400.2 million tonnes of ores.

Within the project, the mining complex and concentrating facilities will be created. The project cost is US$123.67 million.
