Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Appellate Court rejected the appeal of the company "Shahar atrofida yulovchi tashish," part of the "Uztemiryululovchi" structure, against the decision of the Competition Policy Committee, according to the oversight body.
Earlier, in August 2024, a special commission from the Committee imposed fines on both companies for selling suburban train tickets in Ferghana region at inflated prices. The companies were also ordered to refund 1.3 billion soums, the excess amounts paid by 792,000 passengers.
"Shahar atrofida yulovchi tashish" contested the Committee's decision in the Tashkent City Administrative Court. However, the court upheld the ruling. Disagreeing with this, the company filed an appeal.
On 2 December, the judicial panel of the appellate instance supported both previous decisions, the Committee emphasized.
According to the oversight body, in 2023, "UzJeldorpass" sold 606,380 tickets in Ferghana region with violations, which led to illegal income of 660 million soums. Additionally, the suburban transport structure collected 560 million soums above the norm for 185,806 tickets sold from the beginning of the current year until 24 July.
"UzJeldorpass" commented on the decision, stating that ticket prices for the Kokand — Margilan — Andijan route were 2.5 times lower than the cost of the trip. The ticket prices were set by the company’s local branch in coordination with the regional finance department, while the commission fee was determined independently.
