Uzhydromet: mudflows and floods are possible in eight regions of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Due to the expected heavy rains from 20 to 24 June, mudflow and flood phenomena may occur in the foothills and mountainous regions of Uzbekistan. Uzhydromet reports this.

According to the Uzhydromet service, such phenomena can be observed in the following areas:

  • Kashkadarya region: Yakkabag, Dekhkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shakhrisyabz, Kamashi and Guzar districts.
  • Surkhandarya region: Saryasi, Uzun, Altynsay, Denau, Baysun, Sherabad, Shurchin, Kumkurgan and Muzrabat districts.
  • Samarkand region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurabad, Koshrabad, Kattagurgan, Payaryk, Jambay and Ishtykhan districts.
  • Jizzakh region: Zaamin, Bakhmal, Gallyaaral, Sharaf-Rashidov, Farish and Yangiabad districts.
  • Tashkent region: Akhangaran, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Pskent, Urtachirchik, Yukorichirchik districts and the cities of Angren and Almalyk.
  • Namangan region: Papal, Kasansay, Chartak, Chust, Namangan and Yangikurgan districts.
  • Ferghana region: Sokh, Shakhimardan, Fergana and Besharyk districts.
  • Andijan region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduk, Kurgantepe, Pakhtaabad, Izbaskan, Khozhaabad and Markhamat districts, as well as the city of Khanabad.

Citizens living in foothill and mountainous areas, as well as vacationers and drivers planning trips to these areas, are asked to take precautions.

Rainwater may accumulate on the territory of Uzbekistan, which can lead to flooding of individual areas.
