UzHydromet issues warning: Landslides and floods expected in mountainous regions in the coming days

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — According to UzHydromet, from 13 to 18 April 2025, intense rainfall is expected in the foothill and mountainous regions of Uzbekistan, which could trigger mudflows and floods.

Regions at risk include:

Kashkadarya Region:

Yakkabag, Dehkanabad, Chirakchin, Kitab, Shahrisabz, Kamashinsky, Guzar districts.

Surkhandarya Region:

Saryasiya, Uzun, Altinsay, Denau, Baysun, Sherabad, Shurchi, Kumkurgan, Muzrabad districts.

Samarkand Region:

Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurabad, Koshrabad, Katakurgan, Payarik, Jambay, Ishtikhan districts.

Navoi Region:

Khatyrchinsky, Navbakhor, Nuratin, Kanimekh, Karmanin districts.

Jizzakh Region:

Zamin, Bakhmal, Gallyaral, Sharaf-Rashidov, Farish, Yangiabad districts.

Tashkent Region:

Akhangaran, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Pskent, Urta-Chirchik, Yukari-Chirchik districts, as well as the cities of Angren and Almalyk.

Namangan Region:

Pap, Kasansay, Chortak, Chust, Namangan, Yangi-Kurgan districts.

Fergana Region:

Sukh, Shahimardan, Fergana, Besharik districts.

Andijan Region:

Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduk, Kurghantepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khojaabad, Marhamat districts, as well as the city of Khanabad.

Recommendations for the Public:

Residents in these areas, as well as tourists and drivers, are advised to:

Avoid traveling to mountainous areas unless absolutely necessary.

Refrain from moving near riverbeds, ravines, and steep slopes.

Stay informed through local government and emergency services notifications.

Be aware of potential flooding in low-lying areas due to accumulated rainfall.

UzHydromet urges caution and advises readiness to respond promptly if the situation worsens.
