In particular, Prosecutor-General’s Office established contacts with the representatives of the Embassy of Russia in Uzbekistan.

It stated that Prosecutor-General’s Office initiated a working meeting with Ambassador of Russia Mr. Tyurdenov and acting consul Mr. Popov at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 20 July 2012 to inform the Russian side on preliminary investigation on the case.

In line with the request of the Russian Embassy, acting consul Mr. Popov held a meeting with the Russian citizen Radik Dautov, who has been working as financial controller of Uzdunrobita since 2008 and he was attracted as suspect within the criminal case on 29 June 2012.

During the meeting, Radik Dautov said that he is satisfied with conditions in jail and he said he regularly meets his lawyers. He did not make any complaints against law enforcement bodies of Uzbekistan.

At the same time, Mr. Popov informed about efforts of the Russian Embassy on changing preventive punishment. Russian diplomat also stated that he has no information on violations during arrest of Mr. Dautov.

Prosecutor-General’s Office stated that Mr. Dautov and other defendants are provided all rights in line with the legislation of Uzbekistan. In particular, Mr. Dautov held a phone conversation with his spouse and stated that he is satisfied with conditions at the jail and has no complaints to law enforcement bodies.

Prosecutor-General’s Office underlined that lawyers of Mr. Dautov and representatives of the Embassy of Russia are participating in interrogation of the Russian citizen.
