According to Uzbektourism, number of tourists grew by 12.8% in the first half of 2012, while number of served foreign tourists rose by 4.1% and internal tourists – by 20.7%. The volume of tourism services grew by 59.8%.

Export of tourism services made up US$74 million or the plan was implemented with 31.3% surplus. The growth compared to the same period of 2011 made up 31.8%.

The commission of the Cabinet of Ministers on licensing of tourism activity issued licenses to 66 legal entities in the first half of 2012.

As of 1 July 2012, some 851 organizations have license for tourism activities, of which 348 are hotels and other accommodation places.

The company said that works on implementation of programme of measures on developing tourism and export potential is underway.

In the first half of 2012, some 195 measures within the programme were implemented and 270 measures are under implementation.

Within the programme, currently 20 accommodation places were commissioned and some 30 were reconstructed.

The company said that within the programme envisages restoration of historic and architecture monuments, construction, reconstruction and modernization of tourism sights and service points, etc.
