The press service of the company said that the pilot project on introduction of Wi-Fi nework was implemented at Ichan Kala historic city museum in Khorezm region in 2014. In the result of test use of Wi-Fi technologies, the company adopted decision to construct commercial Wi-Fi network at historic and cultural heritage, as well as tourism objects.

The project covers four regions of Uzbekistan – Khorezm, Kashkadarya, Surkhandary and Tashkent regions.

Currently, Uzbektelecom completed works on installation and assembly of equipment to provide Internet services on Wi-Fi technology and started to sell payment cards. One card, purchased at one site, can be used in other objects, where Uztelecom’s Wi-Fi networks are available.

The speed of Internet is set at 4 Mbps. The company offers payment cards from 4,500 to 25,000 soums with traffic from 150 to 2,500 Mb. The card is valid for 30 days after activation.

Uzbektelecom noted that its Wi-Fi networks work at 27 objects.

Khorezm region – Ichan Kala Museum, Urgench Airport, Central railway station in Urgench; Kashkadarya region: Airport and railway station in Karshi, Abdulaziz medresag, Al Jarroh complex, History Museum Karshi, Shakhrisabz Hotel, complex Daorus Saodat, complex Oqsaroy, complex Kok Gumbaz, Museum Amir Timur; Surkhandarya region: Airport and railway station Termez, Hotel Meridian, Hotel Surhon, Historical complex At-Termizi Avliyo ota;

Tashkent region: Restaurant Chinaras, recreation area Humson, recreation area Archazor, recreation area Khodjikent, recreation area Yangiobod Chotqol Marvariti, recreation area Kumushkon, recreation area Gornyak, recreation area Small Chimgan, cableway at Chimgan tract.

The company underlined that it is planning to expand Wi-Fi networks in all territory of Uzbekistan.
