Uzbekkino holds Open Day for journalists and bloggers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 30 December, the National Agency “Uzbekkino” hosted an Open Day for the public, media and bloggers. It included a series of events introducing guests to the history, activities and plans of the agency.

The first colorful event was an exhibition and demonstration of retro-cars, which the state handed over to the balance of Uzbekkino.

“In total, 77 vehicles have been handed over to us. Today, 46 cars and 18 motorcycles are presented at the exhibition, the rest need restoration. We express our sincere gratitude to our President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for such a wonderful New Year's gift and these machines will serve the goals of developing the country's film industry,” Firdavs Abdukhalikov, head of the Uzbekkino, said.

The media and bloggers were also shown a youth creative cinema laboratory, formed in the Uzbekkino building. It is equipped with innovative equipment, and is designed for the creative work of young filmmakers in our country.

“It should be noted that the Government allocated 600 million soums for the purchase of film equipment for this studio. Time itself requires us to take urgent measures to support creative young people, and this youth cinema laboratory is an island where young people can realize their creative ideas and create film production,” Firdavs Abdukhalikov added.

It was informative and fascinating for the media and bloggers to familiarize themselves with the Museum of Cinematography of Uzbekistan. The invited guests had the opportunity to be the first to see the collected and carefully restored collection of the Cinema House. After the building of the House of Cinema was demolished, many exhibits disappeared, but most of them were stored in the basement of the cinema palace named after Alisher Navoi. These exhibits were returned to the Uzbekkino building and made up the exposition of the revived museum.

No less interesting from the point of view of acquaintance with the history of domestic cinema is the renovated building of Uzbekkino. After creative design, it itself turned into a kind of museum. The design idea is the stages of development of Uzbek cinema, which our reflection in photographs and other attributes took a worthy place in the renovated building of the national agency.

And, finally, within the framework of the Open Doors Day, a grant ceremony was held for young directors who won prizes at the DigiCon6 Asia Awards 2019.

So, Shakir Khalikov, the famous young director of the short film “Tea” and the winner of two high awards of the Cannes and Hong Kong festivals at once, received a grant of 1 billion soums for the creation of a feature film.

Makhliyo Askaralieva, whose film “Gift” received the “Next Generation” award, became the owner of a grant of 500 million soums for the creation of a short film. Also, 10 young filmmakers received grants of 20 million soums.

Uzbekkino will provide comprehensive support to young filmmakers in making movie films. They will receive free of charge the equipment they need for filming, costumes, transportation, said Firdavs Abdukhalikov.
