Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is nearing the completion of its accession process to the World Trade Organization (WTO). This milestone was highlighted during a video conference reviewing the year’s achievements and outlining plans for 2025 aimed at comprehensive support for entrepreneurship.
It was noted that agreements have been reached with major countries, including the United States and China.
Despite the removal of benefits that conflict with WTO regulations, the government emphasized its commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and ensuring fair competition conditions.
This year, several issues related to border crossings with neighboring countries have been resolved.
Specifically, border checkpoints such as "Khanabad," "Mingtepa," and "Korasu" in Andijan, which had been closed for 13 years, as well as "Uchkurghon," inactive for 8 years, have been reopened. These measures have reduced travel distances for both the public and businesses by 100 kilometers.
Over the past 11 months, the number of vehicles crossing the borders increased by 400,000, reaching a total of 3 million.
Next year, additional corridors will be constructed at checkpoints like "Gishtkuprik," "Navoi," "Davut-Ota," "Shovot," and "Gulbahor," which will boost throughput capacity fivefold.
