Uzbek automaker UzDaewooAuto produced 66,500 cars in January-May, up 31.4% on the year,
UzDaewooAuto made 33,000 Nexia sedans in January-May, up 15.1% on the year, 24,131 Matiz subcompacts, up 49.7%, 7,656 Damas minivans, up 33.9%, and 1,713 Lacetti cars, up from about 85 a year ago.
The company aims to make 180,000 vehicles this year, 29% more than in 2006, Prime-Tass reported.
UzDaewooAuto was set up on a parity basis in 1992 by Uzbek state-owned automaker Uzavtoprom and South Korean automaker Daewoo Motor. In May 2005, Uzavtoprom bought Daewoo’s stake for US$110 million.
